Depression is a common and serious, but treatable, medical condition that negatively affects how you feel, the way you think, and how you act.
Depression doesn’t mean just being sad constantly.
It’s a mental illness that affects you in many ways.
Here are the top five feelings, besides being sad, when a person has a major depressive disorder.
1 You feel guilty
Depression can hurt you and your loved ones. So guilt is common.
2 You feel disconnected
You can feel cut off from people right in front of you or even disconnected from your own body.
3 You feel lonely
You tend to forget how to reach out to people so you often feel lonely, even in a room full of people.
4 You feel exhausted
Depression can cause existential exhaustion. That’s beyond just feeling tired.
5 You feel angry
People with depression feel angry at themselves or angry at the world.
Although it can be difficult, if you feel depression, reach out for help.
And if you know anybody suffering from depression, in however which way you can, reach out to help.
