First National Summit of Electric Consumers to Tackle Energy Issues and Services – MASONGSONG

Electricity consumers and providers should expect more inexpensive and more efficient services as over one thousand delegates representing 121 electric cooperatives will meet from April 27 to 28 for the first National Summit of Electric Consumers in Davao City and the 2017 National Electrification Administration (NEA)-Electric Cooperatives (EC) Consultative Conference and Lumens Awards Ceremonies.

NEA chief Edgardo Masongsong, together with the National Center of Electric Cooperative Consumers (NCECCO) officers, will provide details of the upcoming events at a press conference on Thursday, April 6 at the Ponce Suites Gallery Hotel, Doña Vicenta Village in Davao City.

The two events are expected to serve as fora to discuss new initiatives toward the strengthening of partnerships among NEA, the ECs, and consumers.

According to Masongsong, the activities are in line with President Rodrigo Duterte’s directives “to work with all major stakeholders in the energy industry to make energy cheaper for our citizens and to make the country more attractive to investors.”

Key issues affecting the role of the ECs in the energy industry and other initiatives to empower the consuming public will also be discussed during the said events.

The NEA Administrator said the President recognized the importance of addressing the country’s energy issues in order to achieve the government’s national development goals.

Both activities will be held at the Big 8 Corporate Hotel in Tagum City, and will gather about 1,200 delegates from all over the country.
