Priority Measures Signed Into Law – PIMENTEL

Senate President Koko Pimentel III lauded President Rodrigo Duterte for approving three major pieces of legislation passed during the First Regular Session of the 17th Congress.

Duterte signed Republic Act (RA) 10928, which extends the validity of Philippine Passport up to 10 years; RA 10929, which establishes free internet access in public places; and RA 10930, which extends the validity of driver’s license from three years to five years.

“All these laws would save our countrymen time and money – less time spent in queues to renew their forms or trying to buy load, and less money spent on fees”, said Pimentel.

All three of the approved laws are part of the list of priority measures as decided upon by the leadership of both the Senate and the House of Representatives.

Pimentel, a major ally of the President, vowed to work on fast tracking the other priority measures mentioned by President Duterte in the latter’s second State of the Nation Address, such as the Bangsamoro Basic Law and the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion, or TRAIN.
