Protecting the planet is the challenge of the century.

If you are still unfazed by this reality, Climate Reality gives you these four natural wonders that are facing destruction unless we act together to preserve them.

1.The Great Barrier Reef

Since 2006, half the Great Barrier Reef has died. The water is just too hot for coral to survive. How did that happen? According to experts, 90% of the heat trapped by greenhouse gases is absorbed by the ocean. Because of the warm water, up to 94% of tropical reefs, like the Great Barrier Reef have suffered fatal bleaching.

2. The Antarctic

Compared to the 1980s, the ice sheet is melting six times faster. Melted ice from the Antarctic accounts for 0.6mm of sea level rise every year.

3. The Amazon Rainforest

About 20% of the Amazon rainforest has already been destroyed. At its current rate, it is predicted that by 2030, the figure will rise to 27%.

4. The Rhone Glacier

Scientists have these calculations – by 2045, half of Switzerland’s small glaciers will be gone. This would mean that the Alps could lose up to 70% of their snow cover by 2099.

Climate change is real. Shouldn’t we all act now to save these natural wonders?
