HOUSING IS A BASIC HUMAN RIGHT – VILLANUEVA

Senator Joel Villanueva on his birthday led the turn over of 158 housing units from the National Housing Authority (NHA) to the informal settler families of Bocaue, Bulacan.

Villanueva said families who live in waterways and flood-prone areas were prioritized to be relocated at Bocaue Hills AFP-PNP Housing, Barangay Batia in Bocaue, Bulacan. The turn over was done in coordination with the Bocaue local government.

“We express our sincerest gratitude to the NHA for giving hope to our kababayans.”

The the veteran legislator awarded the first batch of 158 out of 500 housing units that were allotted for the local government of Bocaue.

“We express our sincerest gratitude to the NHA for giving hope to our kababayans. Our people will now have a clean and inhabitable environment that they can call home,” the seasoned lawmaker said.

According to the NHA, the lot area of each housing unit is 36 square meters and costs P175,000. Of the said cost, P35,000 will be subsidized by the NHA and will be payable in 30 years.

“Our people will now have a clean and inhabitable environment that they can call home.”

Application fees for water and electricity connections will also be shouldered by the NHA.

“Sa atin pong mga Pilipino, napaka-importante ang magkaroon tayo ng sariling bahay. Kaya nga po sa ating Konstitusyon, hindi lang bahagi ng social service ang pabahay, ‘yan po ay basikong karapatang pantao. Karapatan po ng bawat Pilipino, lalo na ng ating mga manggagawa, ang magkaroon ng sariling bahay,” the senator said.

Villanueva also inaugurated a newly-constructed senior citizens’ building and a day care center, respectively, in the towns of Guiguinto and Balagtas, also in Bulacan.
