Filipino-Australian actor, singer, and songwriter James Reid was recently victorious at the 2017 MTV Europe Music Awards held in London, United Kingdom as he won the award for Best Southeast Asia Act.
Six other artists were nominated with Reid: Faizal Tahir of Malaysia, Dam Vinh Hung of Vietnam, Isyana Sarasvati of Indonesia, Slot Machine of Thailand, The Sam Willows of Singapore, and the social wildcard winner, Palitchoke Ayanaputra of Thailand.
Prior this win, his first nomination under the same category was way back in 2015 at the MTV EMA held in Milan, Italy, with current girlfriend, Nadine Lustre, as fellow nominee.
This time, after garnering most votes on the website of MTV Europe Music Awards, Reid was able to share his top-notch artistry in the global music scene.
Released in July 2017, Reid’s third studio album, Palm Dreams, is a departure from his previous boy-next-door image.
Sick bass beats, chill electronic sounds, and expressive lyrics – Palm Dreams was the kind of music Reid has always wanted to bring out to the Filipino audience.
The album also features collaborative tracks with his friends and fellow artists, Sam Concepcion and Bret Jackson (a.k.a. KINGwAw) on On Top, Kiana Valenciano on Mean 2 U, and, of course, Nadine Lustre on IL2LU.
Thereafter, two music videos were produced from his album, Cool Down in June, and Turning Up in September, which fans both loved because of their cool, laidback vibes.
This November, it was announced that the artist will be dropping another video for The Life, to be directed by his beau (JaDine is the real #relationshipgoals!), together with 2 Cool 2 Be 4gotten filmmaker, Petersan Vargas.
A blockbuster movie actor, television heartthrob, commercial model, on-screen and real life half of the famous JaDine loveteam, and now an internationally renowned artist.
At 24 years old, James Reid continues to win at life by staying true to himself.
