What does it take to live up to 100 years and beyond?

TED presents a study by Julianne Holt-Lunstad, a researcher at Brigham Young University.

Lunstad had observed thousands of middle-aged people by looking at every aspect of their lifestyle such as diet, exercise, marital status, visits to doctors and vices. She documented all of these and returned to the respondents after seven years.

Her study revealed 10 top predictors of long life:

1. social integration

2. close relationships

3. quit smoking

4. quit boozing

5. flu vaccine

6. cardiac rehab

7. exercise

8. lean vs overweight

9. hypertension medicines

10. clean air

Surprisingly, the top predictors are linked to daily social life.
