SORSOGON HAS MOST ISO-CERTIFIED LGUS – ESCUDERO

Sorsogon Governor Chiz Escudero has announced that the municipalities of Bulusan and Irosin have been awarded the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) certificates recently, the latest local government units (LGUs) in the province to receive the seal of approval from the standards-setting body for their quality and efficient public service.

According to Escudero, Bulusan and Irosin are the 7th and 8th municipalities, respectively, out of 15 to receive the certification, making Sorsogon with the most number of ISO-certified LGUs in the Philippines.

Other LGUs namely Barcelona, Bulan, Castilla, Donsol, Pilar, and Sorsogon City have received their certification, while the rest are in the process of audit.

The Provincial Capitol of Sorsogon received its ISO 9001:2015 certificate in June last year from the Certification International Philippines Inc.—the first in the Bicol region and one of the only few provinces out of the 81 to be ISO-certified in the country.

All 9 hospitals under the Sorsogon Provincial Health have also been recognized recently as world-class in terms of processes and services by the Geneva-based ISO.

Mabuhay po kayo!” said Escudero, the only incumbent governor who is running for senator.

“This ISO certification reinforces the kind of service we deliver to the people of Sorsogon.

Escudero said, if elected to the Senate again, he would find ways to provide funding for LGUs wishing to undergo training in order to obtain an ISO certification.

The Switzerland-based ISO is a standards-setting body composed of experts from across the globe and is recognized worldwide for focusing on quality management systems and documenting processes, procedures, and responsibilities on quality and control, as well as professionalizing the ranks of employees for quality services.
