Have you ever wondered who the richest football player in the world is?
It’s not David Beckham with his $492 million fortune.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s fortune is valued at $614 million, but it’s not him either.
According to Oh My Goal, the richest football player in the world is Mathieu Flamini, an environmental entrepreneur who plays as a midfielder for Spanish club Getafe.
Forbes reveals he is worth $15 billion!
“Even though my priority is still the pitch because football is my passion,” explains Flamini, “I have other outside interests.”
So how did he become that rich?
Ten years ago, Flamini co-founded GF Biochemicals. The company specializes in the production of levulinic acid. It’s a molecule derived from organic waste that could replace petroleum and create biofuel or 100 percent biodegradable plastic. This concept has allowed the company to make a name for the start-up and has become a world leader in its industry. Flamini’s company is now worth 30 billion dollars.
But even with his huge fortune, Flamini continues to play on the pitch. He says it is out of love for the beautiful game.
Ball is life indeed.
