Passenger traffic through Bohol-Panglao International Airport (BPIA) helped drive the strong performance of Aboitiz InfraCapital (AIC) Airports in 2025, underscoring Bohol’s growing role as a key tourism and economic gateway in the Visayas.
AIC reported a total of 16.17 million passenger arrivals across its airport portfolio in 2025, making it the country’s largest airport operator in terms of passengers served outside Metro Manila.
Of this figure, 2.22 million passengers were recorded at BPIA, reflecting sustained travel demand to the province.
In June 2025, BPIA logged 1.07 million passengers, which currently ranked as the ninth-busiest in the Philippines.
Covering the period following the turnover of the airport to Aboitiz InfraCapital in June 2025, BPIA logged 1.07 million passengers, which currently ranked as the ninth-busiest in the Philippines.
AIC also operates Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA), the busiest airport outside Manila, and Laguindingan International Airport (LIA) in Misamis Oriental, ranked sixth nationwide.
The steady increase in passenger arrivals supports the Provincial Government of Bohol’s (PGBh) efforts to strengthen tourism, trade, and mobility while ensuring sustainable growth across the province, the country’s first and only UNESCO Global Geopark.
“2025 has been a landmark year for our airports as we continued to expand connectivity for both domestic and international travelers.”
“2025 has been a landmark year for our airports as we continued to expand connectivity for both domestic and international travelers. Passengers arriving at MCIA, LIA, and BPIA now have easier access to key destinations across Cebu, Bohol, and Northern Mindanao, making travel within the Philippines more seamless than ever,” said AIC Vice President and Head of Airports Rafael Aboitiz.
AIC also launched initiatives through MCIA, which strengthened inter-island travel, allowing easier access to Bohol via fast ferry connections from Cebu and improved links to Northern Mindanao and international destinations.
In October last year, Governor Aris Aumentado received AIC officials during a courtesy visit at the Provincial Capitol, where discussions focused on airport operations.
“Andam kita sa pagsuporta, kung unsa ang makaayo sa atong mga turista. Daghang salamat, Aboitiz InfraCapital (We are committed to supporting what is best for our tourists. Thank you very much, Aboitiz InfraCapital),” Aumentado wrote on his Facebook page.
Under Aumentado’s leadership, PGBh continues to pursue measures that strengthen sustainable tourism and seamless connectivity, in line with his Strategic Governance Roadmap on sustainable tourism.
