In the aftermath of the midterm election of May 12, 2025, 43% of the provinces in the country will have new provincial governors.
Among the 82 incumbent provincial governors, 55 of them ran for reelection. 47 won. 8 lost.
27 incumbent provincial governors did not seek reelection. 23 ran for other positions. 4 did not run for any. Among those who ran, 17 won, and 6 lost.

These seven incumbent provincial governors made the move from the executive branch to the legislative branch: Laguna Gov Ramil Hernandez, Camarines Sur Gov Luigi Villafuerte, Masbate Gov Tony Kho, Guimaras Gov JC Rahman Nava, Northern Samar Gov Edwin Ongchuan, Lanao del Norte Gov Angging Dimaporo and Surigao del Sur Gov Ayec Pimentel.
Some of them, however, lost in their attempt to change lanes: Batanes Gov Malou Cayco, Marinduque Gov Presby Velasco and Antique Gov Dodod Cadiao.
INCOMING VICE GOVERNORS
These seven incumbent provincial governors slid down to being Vice Governor: Ilocos Norte Gov Matthew Manotoc, Cagayan Gov Manuel Mamba, Pampanga Gov Delta Pineda, Batangas Gov Dodo Mandanas, Davao de Oro Gov Dotdot Gonzaga, Basilan Gov Jim Hataman Salliman and Sulu Gov Sakur Tan.
INCOMING MAYOR
Tarlac Gov Susan Yap chose to run for Mayor and won.
The others who picked to vie for Mayor, but lost, are: Catanduanes Gov Boboy Cua, Zamboanga del Norte Gov Nene Jalosjos and Zamboanga del Sur Gov Victor Yu.
INCOMING VICE MAYORS
These two incumbent provincial governors slid way down to becoming Vice Mayor: Abra Gov Russell Bragas and Albay Gov Glenda Bongao.
DID NOT RUN
These four incumbent provincial governors, for one reason or another, did not run for reelection or for any other elective office: Cavite Gov Athena Tolentino, Biliran Gov Gerard Espina, Eastern Samar Gov Ben Evardone and Maguindanao del Norte Gov Datu Sharifudin Mastura.
