The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has initiated two new road projects to improve mobility and provide better economic opportunities in remote communities of Masbate Province.
Citing a report to DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan, DPWH Region V Director Virgilio Eduarte identified one of the completed projects as the Package 1 of Asid-Tigbao-Bara-Malbug Road, located in Barangay Tigbao, Milagros town.

DPWH Masbate 2nd District Engineering Office (DEO) completed the P94.57-million project which covered the construction of 1.23-kilometer, 2-lane road, with regulatory and warning signs, reflectorized thermoplastic pavement markings, and 127 solar LED street lights as safety components.
The other completed infrastructure in Masbate is the first package of Mandaon-Dayhagan Road in Mandaon town measuring 1.43 lane kilometers.
The new road costing P96.50 million also comes with slope protection structures measuring 6,372 square meters, and 74 roadway lighting to ensure safety of motorists.

“These new road projects will unlock economic opportunities, improve access to essential services, and enhance the overall quality of life of our citizens in these underserved communities,” the public works chief concluded.
