LACSON LAUDS ICT OUTPUTS OF NEGOCC SCHOLARS

The scholars of the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental presented their ICT outputs to Governor Bong Lacson during the 19th ICT EXPO 2025 held at STI West Negros University in Bacolod City.

The ICT scholars are taking up BS Information Technology at the said university.

Jerome Christian Lontes presented Determining Seashell Diversity Through Object Recognition Using YOLOV8 Model; Mark Dennis Manangan presented Comparative Analysis of Convolutional Neural Network Architectures for Blue Swimming Crab Gender Classification; Angel Bien Casañares presented GeoStream: Flood Information Management System for Victorias City; and Kurt Boncalon presented AgriVant: Urban Food Security Monitoring System Through Crop Harvest Analysis.

“The scholars’ outputs are testaments to what can be achieved when talent is nurtured and when young people are given the opportunity to explore, learn, and lead.”

Lacson said that the scholars’ outputs are testaments to what can be achieved when talent is nurtured and when young people are given the opportunity to explore, learn, and lead.

“The outputs are not just projects or programs but solutions, possibilities, and blueprints for a more connected and empowered Negros Occidental,” the governor noted.

He also expressed his gratitude to the faculty and staff of STI WNU for their continued partnership with the Provincial Government in creating meaningful opportunities for educational growth and advancement.

Present at the activity were STI WNU Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer Dr. Ryan Mark Molina, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Frederick Berroya, CICT Dean Dr. Mae Lodana, and Negros Occ. Scholarship Program Head Karen Dinsay.
