GATCHALIAN BACKS STRONGER SUPPORT FOR TEACHERS

Following the opening of School Year 2025-2026, Senator Win Gatchalian is calling for continued support for teachers amidst the rollout of basic education reforms this school year.

The Strengthened Senior High School (SHS) Program, for example, is set for pilot this school year in 800 schools.

The revised K to 12 (MATATAG) curriculum, which is being implemented in phases, is also set for rollout in Grades 2, 3, 5, and 8 this school year.

“Kailangang suportahan natin sila upang matiyak nating epektibo sila sa kanilang tungkuling tiyaking natututo ang ating mga kabataan.”

“Sa ating mga guro nakasalalay ang tagumpay ng mga repormang nais nating ipatupad sa ating sistema ng edukasyon. Kailangang suportahan natin sila upang matiyak nating epektibo sila sa kanilang tungkuling tiyaking natututo ang ating mga kabataan,” said Gatchalian, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Basic Education.

The veteran legislator emphasized the importance of teacher training and ensuring the availability of quality learning and teaching materials.

The seasoned lawmaker also pressed the importance of decongesting teachers’ workload and streamlining their workflow, which requires the increased adoption of digital technology.

The senator also reiterated the need to expedite the hiring of non-teaching staff who will focus on administrative tasks.
