ERC BARES STRATEGIES BEFORE HOUSE ENERGY PANEL

The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) briefed the House Committee on Energy on the Commission’s key priorities and regulatory strategies governing the Philippine electric power industry.

ERC Chairperson and CEO Atty. Francis Saturnino Juan, together with other ERC officials, presented before the Committee chaired by Palawan 2nd District Representative Jose Chaves Alvarez at the House of Representatives in Quezon City recently.

During ERC’s presentation, Juan outlined ERC’s key priorities under his leadership: fair and evidence-based rate setting, timely resolution of cases, strong oversight to foster competition, stable regulatory environment to attract investments, and a proactive and consumer-focused leadership of the Commission.

“We will not wait for problems to arise.”

“We will not wait for problems to arise—we will engage stakeholders early, anticipate challenges, and craft rules that are responsive to the needs of both the industry and the public,” the ERC chief earlier assured upon his assumption of office.

“Our goal is simple: to keep the lights on, the prices fair, and the service reliable,” he added.
