DOTR, DBM TO MONITOR BIG TICKET TRANSPORT PROJECTS

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and Department of Budget and Management (DBM) signed an agreement to monitor and evaluate big ticket transport projects through an active citizen reporting mechanism.

The agreement is part of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to involve citizen participation in crowdsourcing reports of government projects.

“Public feedback will be crucial in making sure that transport projects will benefit commuters.”

Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon said public feedback will be crucial in making sure that transport projects will benefit commuters.

“Kabilin-bilinan ng Pangulo na dapat ‘yung mga proyekto nagbebenepisyo ang mga kababayan natin. This system developed by the DBM and our partners in the academe will be instrumental in making sure that government projects will reach and benefit Filipinos,” Dizon said during the agreement signing with Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman.

Joining the transport chief were Information Secretary Henry Aguda, Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chair Romando Artes and Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano.

Called Digital Information for Monitoring and Evaluation (DIME) Project, the system will utilize modern technology such as satellites, drones and geotagging in monitoring and evaluating the status of big-ticket government infrastructure projects.

The DIME Project will also establish an efficient and effective technology-enabled participatory validation and reporting mechanism.

Under the DOTr-DBM agreement, the DOTr will provide the DBM with detailed data on transportation infrastructure projects across its sectors, including location, status, and timelines.
