BONG GO SENDS AID TO TYPHOON-HIT NORTHERN SAMAR

Senator Bong Go reaffirmed his compassion-driven service as his Malasakit Team visited several communities in San Vicente, Northern Samar to aid families affected by Typhoon Opong.

The team personally reached out to affected residents in Brgy. Sila, as well as the islands of Mahaba and Panganoron in Brgy. Maragat.

They distributed essential aid and listened to the concerns of the victims, conveying the Go’s steadfast commitment to helping Filipinos recover from calamities.

Held in coordination with Mayor Edgar “Egay” Catarongan Jr. and barangay officials led by Capt. Galicano Mahusay of Brgy. Sila, the outreach brought comfort and hope to 300 beneficiaries. Each received food packs, shirts, basketballs, and volleyballs.

The veteran legislator also acknowledged the cooperation of local leaders who helped organize the activity.

“Bukas dapat palagi ang inyong tanggapan tuwing may nangangailangan.”

“Isa lang po ang pakiusap ko sa mga barangay officials: ‘Wag pabayaan ang mga kababayan nating mahihirap,” the seasoned lawmaker reminded. “Bukas dapat palagi ang inyong tanggapan tuwing may nangangailangan.”

Meanwhile, the senator continues to push for stronger disaster resilience and housing programs to better protect and support Filipino communities.

Go, who is the principal author and co-sponsor of Republic Act No. 12076, is pushing for the full implementation of the Ligtas Pinoy Centers Act, which mandates the establishment of permanent, disaster-resilient, and fully equipped evacuation centers nationwide.

He has also refiled Senate Bill No. 173, or the proposed Department of Disaster Resilience Act, which seeks to establish a dedicated agency that will unify disaster risk reduction, preparedness, response, and rehabilitation efforts under one institution.

SBN 415, or the proposed Rental Housing Subsidy Program, aims to provide temporary shelter assistance to affected families as they rebuild or transition into permanent housing.

In line with his commitment to address housing challenges, particularly for families displaced by calamities, Go refiled SBN 415, or the proposed Rental Housing Subsidy Program, which aims to provide temporary shelter assistance to affected families as they rebuild or transition into permanent housing.

Other proposals include SBN 669, or the Hazard Pay for Disaster Personnel bill, which requires local government units (LGUs) to grant hazard pay to disaster responders during calamities; and Senate Bill No. 666, or the New Building Code bill, which seeks to update national construction standards to promote safety and resilience.

“Patuloy kaming magseserbisyo sa inyo dahil bisyo ko ang magserbisyo at ako ay naniniwala na ang serbisyo sa tao ay serbisyo ‘yan sa Panginoon, serbisyo ‘yan kay Allah,” he concluded.
