To ensure learning continuity every time calamities occur, the Department of Education (DepEd) allotted ₱1.35 billion for the printing, distribution, delivery and use of Learning Packets and Dynamic Learning Program (DLP) materials.
The initiative aims to give teachers and students the tools to continue learning even if schools are closed.
“Ang pondong ito ay para sa kahandaan at learning continuity,” Education Secretary Sonny Angara said.
“Sa panahong mahirap, mas kailangan ng mga bata ang pag-asa at direksyon.”
“Sa panahong mahirap, mas kailangan ng mga bata ang pag-asa at direksyon. Kaya kahit limitado ang kuryente, signal, o daan, dapat may paraan pa rin para magpatuloy ang pag-aaral,” Angara added.
Saklaw ng pondo, na kasama ang mga nasa Regional Offices, ang pagpi-print at pamamahagi ng Learning Packets para sa Grades 1 hanggang 12.
₱950 million is allotted for the Learning Packets of Grade 1 to 12 while P399 million is for the Dynamic Learning Program materials for Junior High School learners.
Public schools are directed to give one set of Learning Packet for each student from Grade 1 to Grade 12.
Each Learning Packet contains 25 to 50 self-paced activities designed to improve the skills of students in reading, math and problem solving.
Some of the materials have enrichment activities for students to improve their level of learning and the development of life skills.
The Dynamic Learning Program (DLP), on the other hand, provides structured, activity-based lessons that students can do on their own. They can copy and answer using paper or notebook.
“Ang mga materyales na ito ay bahagi ng ating tuloy-tuloy na adbokasiya para sa learning resilience,” Angara said. “Gusto nating siguraduhin na kahit may bagyo, baha, o lindol, may hawak pa ring aralin ang bawat bata. Ang edukasyon dapat ang huling huminto at unang bumangon.”
The program also encourages the coordination of local government units (LGUs) to ensure that schools located in high-risk areas will have access to alternative learning modes while in-person classes are suspended.
“Bukod sa learning recovery, panahon na rin para tayo ay mag-invest sa learning readiness,” Angara said.
“Kung handa ang paaralan, handa rin ang bansa.”
“Kung handa ang paaralan, handa rin ang bansa. Ang edukasyon ay hindi lang tungkol sa kung ano ang itinuturo natin sa magagandang panahon—ito ay tungkol sa paano natin pinatatatag ang pagkatuto, sa ulan man o sa araw,” he concluded.
