SPEAKER DY HAILS SIGNING OF PALAY FLOOR PRICE EO

Speaker Bojie Dy III praised President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. for his compassion and decisive leadership through the signing of Executive Order (EO) Nos. 100 and 101, measures that set a floor price for palay while strengthening direct government support to farmers and fisherfolk.

Dy said the twin directives prove that the President fully understands the challenges facing those who feed the nation, and show that he is determined to restore their dignity and stability.

The seasoned lawmaker explained that EO 100, which sets a fair and just floor price for palay, will shield farmers from unfairly low buying prices that often occur during harvest season.

The directive, he noted, will stabilize the market, improve farmer incomes, and strengthen national food security.

He also welcomed EO 101, which strengthens the implementation of the Sagip Saka Act by requiring all national and local government agencies to directly buy from accredited farmers’ and fisherfolk cooperatives and enterprises.

Prior to the release of the EOs, the Speaker met with Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. and Sen. Kiko Pangilinan to discuss the proposals that have been adopted in the newly signed executive orders.

Dy expressed gratitude for the continued support of the Department of Agriculture, which he said was critical in ensuring that the government can immediately address the concerns of the Philippine agriculture sector.

Dy also said the House remains fully committed to supporting the administration’s agricultural agenda, noting that several priority bills under LEDAC are aligned with the President’s reforms. Among these is the Rice Industry and Consumer Empowerment (RICE) Act, which seeks to strengthen the National Food Authority, empower local rice producers, and ensure affordable rice for Filipino families.

Dy vowed that the House will closely monitor the implementation of EOs 100 and 101 and continue working with the Department of Agriculture to ensure these measures uplift every rural community.
