Senator Bong Go personally extended support to fire victims in Barangay Pulang Lupa Uno, Las Piñas City.
Go reminded the victims of the importance of prioritizing and valuing the life of every Filipino that is why he does his best to assist those in need, saying, “Kahapon galing ako sa Malabon (City) at higit apat na daan din po ang ating natulungan… Importante po sa akin ang buhay ng mga tao, importante na walang nasaktan”.
In this connection, the veteran legislator emphasized the need to establish safe and disaster-resilient evacuation centers in every municipality and city across the country for displaced families, as mandated by Republic Act No. 12076, or the Ligtas Pinoy Centers Act, which the seasoned lawmaker principally authored and co-sponsored.
“Bigyang prayoridad ang evacuation centers dahil batas naman po ito.”
“Ako po ay nakikiusap sa mga kasamahan ko sa gobyerno. Bigyang prayoridad ang evacuation centers dahil batas naman po ito kaysa nasasayang sa flood control na ginagawang gatasan ng iilan po,” the senator said.
Additionally, as the principal author and co-sponsor of the Bureau of Fire Protection Modernization Act of 2021, he also advocates for enhanced firefighting capabilities.
The law aims to strengthen the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) by modernizing its equipment, hiring more personnel, and offering specialized training programs to ensure prompt and efficient responses to fire emergencies.
Furthermore, recognizing the burden faced by the victims, Go and his Malasakit Team facilitated the aid distribution held at the Barangay Pulang Lupa Uno covered court, where they provided financial assistance, food packs, snacks, water containers, fans, vitamins, shirts, basketballs, and volleyballs to 69 beneficiaries. Select recipients also received a bicycle, a watch, a pair of shoes, and a mobile phone.
He further recognized the national government for conducting assessments to ensure that affected families can receive support in rebuilding their homes.
Go also acknowledged the local government of Las Piñas City led by Mayor April Aguilar and Vice Mayor Imelda Aguilar.
“Visit the Malasakit Center in Las Piñas City General Hospital and Satellite Trauma Center if they need medical assistance.”
Additionally, the vice chairperson of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography encouraged everyone to visit the Malasakit Center in Las Piñas City General Hospital and Satellite Trauma Center if they need medical assistance.
First established in 2018, the Malasakit Center is a one-stop shop that brings together concerned agencies to provide indigent patients with access to medical assistance programs.
Through RA 11463, which he principally authored and sponsored, qualified public hospitals now feature Malasakit Centers. Currently, 167 Malasakit Centers have been established, benefiting over 17 million Filipinos, according to reports from the Department of Health.
“Patuloy po akong magseserbisyo sa inyo dahil bisyo ko ang magserbisyo at ako ay naniniwala na ang serbisyo sa tao ay serbisyo ‘yan sa Panginoon,” Go concluded.
