The Philippines delivered a historical performance at the 14th ASEAN School Games (ASG) finishing fourth place in the overall ranking.
The Philippine Team had a total of 43 medals – 4 gold, 10 silver, 22 bronze – showing a better performance compared to the 2024 games where the country got 6th place.
As the returned to the Philippines, the delegation received a heroes’ welcome from their family, officials and supporters.
“Beyond the medals, your grit and discipline reminded us why we must keep strengthening school sports and supporting every young Filipino athlete.”
Education Secretary Sonny Angara stressed that the performance of the PH team in the ASG is a sign of the continuous rise of sports development among the youth, in line with the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to empower school-based athletics and expand opportunities for learner-athletes all over the country.
“Mission accomplished kayo! Beyond the medals, your grit and discipline reminded us why we must keep strengthening school sports and supporting every young Filipino athlete,” Angara said.

Athletics brought home the biggest number of medals. ang pagbibigay ng karangalan na nagtala ng pinakamaraming medalya para sa bansa.
Jhul Ian Canalita of Bohol broke the record in the Boys’ 3,000 meters with 8:47.52.
Ma. Lhynette Libranda of NCR, on the other hand, beat the six-year record in the Girls’ 100-meter hurdles in the semifinals at 14.20 seconds. Libranda also marked a personal record in the finals with 13.82 seconds.
Meanwhile, Anthony Cariaso of NCR brought home two gold medals in the Boys’ 800-meter and 1,500-meter runs.
The Philippines was able to regain the basketball crown after both the Boys’ and Girls’ teams became undefeated.
Wushu, on the other hand, gave the country a silver and two bronze medals.
Supporting the Philippine Team is the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) led by Chef de Mission Dr. Miguel Angelo Mantaring, Director IV of the DepEd-Bureau of Learner Support Services, with Deputy Chef de Mission Cesar Abalon, Chief ng BLSS-School Sports Division.
Delegates of the Philippines joined other countries in the ASEAN in eight sports namely Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Swimming, Netball, Pencak Silat, Sepak Takraw, and Wushu.
