LAZATIN BACKS ANTI-POLITICAL DYNASTY BILL

Pampanga First District Representative Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. expressed support  on the Anti-Political Dynasty Bill being pushed in the 20th Congress.

“Ang pagpasa ng Anti-Dynasty Bill ay isang paraan para maibalik ang tiwala ng tao sa pamahalaan,” Lazatin said.

“Naniniwala ako na mas magiging inclusive at accountable ang gobyerno pag naipasa ito.”

“Naniniwala ako na mas magiging inclusive at accountable ang gobyerno pag naipasa ito,” the legislator added.

On December 9, Malacañang announced that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. wants Congress to prioritize the Anti-Dynasty Bill, the Independent People’s Commission Act, the Party-list System Reform Act, and the Citizens Access and Disclosure of Expenditures for National Accountability (CADENA) Act.

The lawmaker, who is one of the co-sponsors of the Anti-Dynasty Bill, is the third generation of the Lazatin political family.

“Anyone who has followed me throughout my years in public service would know that I have never denied my family’s political history. Doing so is not only hypocritical but also does a disservice to the exemplary record of my father, and his father before him,” he said.

“If the will of the people I represent is for this bill to pass, then I support its passage wholeheartedly.”

“Be that as it may, we serve only at the pleasure of the people. If the will of the people I represent is for this bill to pass, then I support its passage wholeheartedly,” Lazatin added.

His grandfather, Rafael “Apung Feleng” Lazatin, served as Municipal Mayor of Angeles in 1946, as Pampanga Governor from 1951 to 1959, as Angeles City Mayor from 1972 to 1980, and as Assemblyman from 1984 to 1986.

His father, Carmelo “Tarzan” Lazatin, served as Pampanga First District Representative from 1987 to 1998 and from 2007 to 2013, as Angeles City Mayor from 1998 to 2007, and as Barangay Captain of Balibago in 2018.
