DIZON: EDSA REHAB STARTS ON CHRISTMAS EVE

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will begin the rehabilitation of EDSA starting December 24 using the new technology from Japan.

This is in line with the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to find faster and more practical solutions to repair ESDA without disturbing motorists and commuters.

Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon assured the rehabilitation of EDSA will be faster Japanese technology. Dizon also gave assurance that the road will be strong and will last longer.


“‘Yung unang plano, dalawang taon minimum. Sabi ng Pangulo, hindi pupwede ‘yan. Kailangan ‘yan maiksi. Kailangan minimal ‘yung disruption, so, ang bagong plano, walong buwan na lang imbis na dalawang taon gamit ang stone mastic asphalt,” he explained.

The government will save P11 billion using the technology. Only P6 billion will be spent from the original budget of P17 billion.

“Titiyakin namin na may sapat na suplay [ng bus] ang ating EDSA Busway.”

Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez explained there will still be a dedicated line for EDSA Busway for commuters to have faster trips.

“Parati pong sinasabi ng Pangulo na dapat parating may pampublikong sasakyan. Titiyakin namin na may sapat na suplay [ng bus] ang ating EDSA Busway,” Lopez said.

“Bukod sa karagdagang mga MMDA personnel meron din pong alternative routes tayong bubuksan para tuloy-tuloy ang daloy ng traffic.”

The MMDA will be deploying enforcers to assure to smootj na magde-deploy ito ng enforcers para siguruhing maayos ang daloy ng trapiko.

“Bukod sa karagdagang mga MMDA personnel meron din pong alternative routes tayong bubuksan para tuloy-tuloy ang daloy ng traffic,” Artes explained.

The first phase of the EDSA rehabilitation will begin from Roxas Boulevard in Pasay City to Orense in Makati City.
