BOC SEIZES P21M DRUGS STASHED IN UNCLAIMED PARCELS

In line with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to strengthen border protection and intensify the government’s anti-drug campaign, the Bureau of Customs – Ninoy Aquino International Airport (BOC-NAIA), in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group (NAIA-IADITG), intercepted five (5) unclaimed inbound parcels containing dangerous drugs with a total estimated value of ₱21,405,900 at the Central Mail Exchange Center (CMEC) in Pasay City.

The parcels, declared as various consumer items including an outdoor wall lamp, bag, digital media discs, merchandise, and a book, were subjected to examination after exhibiting suspicious indicators. 

Physical inspection revealed that the parcels contained a total of 2,928 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) with an estimated standard value of ₱19,910,400, and 997 grams of high-grade marijuana (kush) with an estimated street value of ₱1,495,500.

BOC Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno commended the vigilance of BOC-NAIA personnel.

The seized items were officially turned over to PDEA for proper disposition and further investigation. 

The case constitutes violations of Republic Act No. 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, as amended) and Republic Act No. 10863 (Customs Modernization and Tariff Act).
