MMDA, SM PARTNER FOR REAL-TIME TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has entered into a partnership with SM Supermalls to provide the public with wider access to real-time traffic information, reinforcing the agency’s commitment to smarter, data-driven traffic management and transparent public information sharing.

According to MMDA Chairman Atty. Don Artes, the agency provided viewing access to selected traffic CCTV feeds, which will be displayed in participating SM Supermalls.

These live traffic views will allow motorists and mall clients to monitor real-time traffic conditions on surrounding roads and major corridors.

At SM Megamall, live traffic feed of the southbound portions of EDSA–Shaw Boulevard and EDSA–Ayala, as well as the northbound portions of EDSA–Guadix and EDSA–Santolan are being shown.

“SM will replicate this initiative at Mall of Asia and SM North EDSA.”

“This is just the beginning at SM Megamall. Soon, SM will replicate this initiative at Mall of Asia and SM North EDSA. We will also be posting a traffic advisory that will include traffic information not only along EDSA but across the entire Metro Manila,” Artes said during the launch held at SM Megamall.

Through this collaboration, the MMDA is extending the reach of its traffic information services by leveraging SM Supermalls’ high-traffic, trusted public spaces.

By providing commuters with timely and accurate traffic information, the project empowers the public to make informed travel decisions that can help improve traffic flow and reduce congestion in key areas.

“This project shows what is possible when the public and private sectors work together.”

Echoing this sentiment, Christian Mathay, Regional Operations Head and Senior Assistant Vice President of SM Supermalls said, “This project shows what is possible when the public and private sectors work together: simple, smart solutions that deliver real value to people, right where they are.”

“Today’s launch is just the beginning. We see this as step toward more data-driven, community-focused initiatives that help Filipinos move forward – safe, smoothly, and with confidence. To our partners from MMDA, thank you for your trust and collaboration,” Mathay added.

Furthermore, this partnership also supports the MMDA’s vision of a more connected, responsive, and commuter-focused metropolitan traffic system, where technology and collaboration play a central role in improving the overall transport experience in Metro Manila.
