PRC GIVES P8.3M CASH AID TO CEBU QUAKE VICTIMS

The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) distributed ₱8.3 million worth of cash assistance to 1,083 families in Barangays San Miguel, Calambua, and Tacup in San Remegio, Cebu to help them address their immediate needs after the 6.9-magnitude earthquake.

The event was led by PRC Secretary General Dr. Gwendolyn Pang and attended by several guests and local officials, including City Mayor of Bogo City and member of the Cebu Chapter Board of Directors Mayor Mayel Martinez, Municipal Municipal Administrator of San Remigio Atty. Mary Lean Garbo Golisao, LDRRMO Head Jan Reymund Frasco, and MSWD Head Claire Daito.

The cash assistance aims to help families buy food, repair their homes, and meet urgent daily needs. While most donations and relief activities of other agencies and local government units were earlier focused in Bogo City, the PRC made sure that San Remegio—one of the hardest-hit areas—also receives support.

Pang reminded the beneficiaries to use the money wisely for their basic needs.

“We hope that this cash assistance will truly serve its purpose—to help you rebuild, recover, and meet your most immediate needs.”
