“This operation shows what we can accomplish when government agencies work hand in hand,” Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno said.

No contraband was initially found inside the facility, although authorities noticed disturbed and excavated soil nearby, leading to the discovery that the cigarettes had been buried to conceal them from detection.

The seized cigarettes were then turned over to the BOC for issuance of Warrant of Seizure and Detention for violation of Sections 117, 400 and 113 of Republic Act No. 10863, otherwise known as the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.

In line with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive, the operation highlights intensified inter-agency coordination and enforcement efforts against illicit trade, protecting government revenue and public welfare.

“I’m proud of our officers and our partners in the PNP-BARMM for their commitment to protecting the people and the country’s revenue.”

“For me, it’s not just about seizing contraband—it’s about sending a clear message that illegal trade has no place in our communities. I’m proud of our officers and our partners in the PNP-BARMM for their commitment to protecting the people and the country’s revenue,” Nepomuceno added.

The BOC under his leadership reiterated its commitment to strengthen border protection and combating the proliferation of illicit trade to safeguard government revenue and public welfare.
