LACSON LETS GO OF SENATE ELECTORAL REFORM POST

Citing his heavy workload, Senate President Pro Tempore Ping Lacson relinquished the chairmanship of the Senate Committee on Electoral Reforms and People’s Participation to Senator Risa Hontiveros.

Lacson said he discussed the matter during the majority bloc’s caucus, and that Hontiveros was amenable to taking over as chairperson of the committee.

“Amenable naman si Sen. Hontiveros to chair.”

“Puno ako sa Blue Ribbon and Accounts, Senate President Pro Tempore pa ako. Amenable naman si Sen. Hontiveros to chair (I have my hands full as chairman of the Blue Ribbon and Accounts Committees. I am also Senate President Pro Tempore. Sen. Hontiveros is amenable to chair the committee),” the veteran legislator explained.

Aside from serving as Senate President Pro Tempore, the seasoned lawmaker chairs the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee, which is looking into the corruption behind anomalous flood control projects, among others; as well as the Committee on Accounts.

During the Senate session, Senate Majority Leader Migz Zubiri formally informed the Senate that Lacson communicated his intention to relinquish chairmanship of the committee, and moved to elect Hontiveros as committee chairperson.
