To help improve urban mobility infrastructure, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and Global Electric Transport Philippines (GET Philippines) have sealed a partnership for the Electric Love Bus Program, which will provide free rides to commuters.
MMDA Chairman Atty. Don Artes and GET Philippines President Sigfrido Tinga led the signing of the memorandum of agreement at the MMDA Head Office in Pasig City.
Artes emphasized that the initiative supports the vision of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. for a safe, reliable, and accessible public transportation system. The iconic ‘Love Bus’ forms part of the administration’s efforts to reduce the financial and time burdens of daily commuting, particularly in metropolitan areas.
“These buses will help reduce pollution, ease congestion along key routes, and provide a more comfortable riding experience for passengers.”
“Through this partnership, we are introducing fully electric buses that are cleaner, quieter, and more modern. These buses will help reduce pollution, ease congestion along key routes, and provide a more comfortable riding experience for passengers,” the MMDA chief said.
He added that with the support of corporate sponsors, the MMDA will be able to sustain and further expand its free public transportation services.
Under the agreement, the MMDA will oversee route management, enforcement support, infrastructure assistance, and alignment with public service goals, while GET Philippines will be responsible for the operations and maintenance of the electric buses.
The corporate sponsors include Robinsons Land Corporation (RLC), Megaworld Corporation, Ortigas Land, and International Solid Waste Integrated Management Specialist, Inc. (ISWIMS).
“We will make public transport palatable, enjoyable, safe, and environmentally friendly for everyone.”
“We will make public transport palatable, enjoyable, safe, and environmentally friendly for everyone. The MMDA has come in to support the Love Bus program and make sure it happens,” Tinga said.
For her part, Mybelle Aragon-Gobio, President and Chief Executive Officer of RLC, expressed her gratitude for being part of the meaningful collaboration, emphasizing that mobility and urban development must move forward together.
“By linking Robinsons Galleria, Bridgetowne, and the other nearby business districts along the C5 corridor, we are helping strengthen the connections that already exist within this vibrant economic zone. This partnership also demonstrates what is possible when government leadership and private enterprise align behind a shared vision,” Aragon-Gobio said.
