P1.6B FEED MILL COMPLEX OPENS IN ISABELA

The P1.6-billion City of Ilagan Feed Mill Complex, with a monthly production capacity of 15,000 metric tons, was inaugurated recently in Isabela, marking one of the largest agro-industrial investments in Northern Luzon.

Spanning 4.5 hectares and completed in just 10 months, the complex is expected to strengthen the livestock and poultry supply chain while providing a stable, structured market for corn farmers across Region II and neighboring provinces.

Governor Rodito Albano said the project reflects strong investor confidence in Isabela and underscores the province’s long-standing role as a leading agricultural producer.

“It is an investment in our farmers, our local industries, and the long-term economic resilience of the province.”

“This is more than an infrastructure milestone,” Albano said during the blessing and ribbon-cutting ceremony. “It is an investment in our farmers, our local industries, and the long-term economic resilience of the province.”

The governor assured investors of continued provincial support, highlighting streamlined coordination with local authorities to maintain a competitive and business-friendly environment.

Ilagan City Mayor Josemarie Diaz described the facility as central to Ilagan’s shift from primary crop production to value-added agricultural processing.

“By processing what we grow, we stabilize demand, improve price security, and create more sustainable income opportunities for farmers,” Diaz said.

The mayor emphasized that the city is embracing a circular agricultural economy, integrating production, waste reduction, and resource efficiency across the supply chain.

He credited strong collaboration between the local government and private partners for bringing the project to fruition.

“We are climbing the value chain—processing what we grow, stabilizing prices, increasing farmers’ purchasing power, and building a resilient local economy.”

House Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III, represented by LPGMA Partylist Congressman Allan Ty, highlighted the project’s contribution to strengthening domestic food production and supporting national food security.

The feed mill operates in partnership with Charoen Pokphand Foods Philippines (CPF). CPF Chairman Sakol Cheewakoset said the company sees strong growth potential in Ilagan and is prepared to expand investments in the coming years.

The facility will serve both commercial farms and smallholder growers, creating reliable demand for local crops such as corn, cassava, and rice bran while enhancing supply chain efficiency and supporting livestock production recovery.

Financial backing was provided by the Land Bank of the Philippines, which described the facility as a strategic investment in rural development and food sustainability.

Mr. Victor Agorto, head of the Northern Luzon Lending Group of Land Bank, said the project is expected to benefit swine farmers, feed dealers, and corn traders in Region II and parts of the Cordillera Administrative Region.

Jose Avelino Diaz of Sagittarian Agricultural Philippines Inc. partnered in developing the complex, integrating modern feed mill technology to ensure operational efficiency and product quality.
