Senator Bong Go reiterated the importance of technical-vocational education to increase the prospects of graduates for employment, rise from their current condition, and contribute to communities.

In his message during the graduation ceremony of scholars from Greenhand Integrated Farm in Basey, Samar, Go said, “Sa pamamagitan ng TESDA (Technical Education and Skills Development Authority) at iba pang training institutions, marami na po tayong natulungang magkaroon ng hanapbuhay at pagkakataong maiangat ang kanilang buhay.”

“Ako ang inyong Senator Kuya Bong Go, patuloy na magseserbisyo sa inyong lahat dahil bisyo ko na ang magserbisyo at ako po ay naniniwala na ang serbisyo sa tao ay serbisyo po ‘yan sa Diyos,” the veteran legislator told the 74 graduates.

“Bisyo ko na ang magserbisyo.”

The seasoned lawmaker, who is a member of the Senate Committee on Higher, Technical, and Vocational Education, has been consistently advocating for measures that promote accessible and quality learning.

The senator co-authored and co-sponsored Republic Act No. 12077, or the Student Loan Payment Moratorium During Disasters and Emergencies Act, to provide financial relief to students with outstanding loans during calamities.

He also co-authored and co-sponsored RA 11510, or the Institutionalization of the Alternative Learning System Act, which ensures access to education for out-of-school and disadvantaged youth.

Go also authored and co-sponsored the measure seeking to amend RA 10931, or the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act (UAQTEA), which further refined the Tertiary Education Subsidy (TES) to ensure that assistance is granted to students who are truly in need.

The scholars, meanwhile, received shirts, vitamins, pens, fans, and balls, while others got a pair of shoes.

“Huwag kayong titigil sa inyong pangarap dahil ito ay simula pa lang ng mas magandang bukas para sa inyo,” Go concluded.
