Travelling for seven hours from Samar to Leyte will be a thing of the past after temporary repairs are done on Maharlika Highway.
Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon has directed field personnel to complete the ongoing road reblocking works ahead of the Holy Week.
“Kailangan before Holy Week ay completely madaanan na nang buo ‘yung Maharlika. Mula Quezon, Bicol, Samar hanggang Leyte,” Dizon said.
“Pumunta ako rito para masigurado na magdedeliver ‘yung regional director natin.”
“Pumunta ako rito para masigurado na magdedeliver ‘yung regional director natin, na itong lahat ng ongoing [projects] natin ay mabilis matatapos para bago mag-Holy Week,” the public works chief added.
Dizon conducted the inspection last March 9.
It was his second visit to Samar province as DPWH chief.
His first visit was on Feb. 1 and 2 when he inspected the stretch from Northern Samar to the San Juanico Bridge that links the islands of Samar and Leyte.
