BONG GO LAUDS OROQUIETA HEALTH CENTER TURNOVER

Senator Bong Go’s team witnessed the turnover of the Super Health Center in Oroquieta City, Misamis Occidental recently.

Present during the turnover of the Super Health Center were Misamis Occidental Vice Governor Rowena Gutierrez, Oroquieta City Mayor Lemuel Acosta, City Councilor Arti Enanoria, and Barangay Apil Captain Roy Bongcayao, among others.

“Magseserbisyo ako sa abot ng aking makakaya para sa kapakanan ng bawat Pilipino.”

“Wala akong ibang iniisip kundi magtrabaho. Almusal ko ay trabaho, pananghalian rin ay trabaho, hapunan trabaho pa rin hanggang sa panaginip trabaho pa rin. Magseserbisyo ako sa abot ng aking makakaya para sa kapakanan ng bawat Pilipino,” Go said in a message.

Indeed, the veteran legislator has been actively supporting the establishment of Super Health Centers nationwide to strengthen healthcare delivery at the grassroots level. To date, more than 700 Super Health Centers have been funded across the country, including two in Misamis Occidental—one in Ozamiz City and another recently turned over in Oroquieta City.

The Super Health Centers serve as a middle ground between a polyclinic and a rural health unit. They offer a range of services, including the Konulta package, laboratory testing, birthing facilities, outpatient care, dental services, and a pharmacy, among others.

“The initiative is a product of strong collaboration among the Department of Health, local government units, and fellow lawmakers.”

As Vice Chair of the Senate Health Committee, the seasoned lawmaker underscored that the initiative is a product of strong collaboration among the Department of Health, local government units, and fellow lawmakers.

The Super Health Centers form part of several healthcare reforms that the senator has pushed to bring healthcare closer to the people. He is also the principal author and sponsor of Republic Act No. 11463, also known as the Malasakit Centers Act of 2019.

The Malasakit Center serves as a one-stop shop, bringing together various agencies under one roof to help impoverished patients with their medical expenses. Since its launch in 2018 and its institutionalization under RA 11463, which Go principally authored and sponsored in 2019, the 167 Malasakit Centers have assisted over 17 million indigent patients nationwide, according to the Department of Health (DOH).

In Misamis Occidental, Malasakit Centers are located at the Mayor Hilarion A. Ramiro Sr. Medical Center in Ozamiz City and Doña Maria D. Tan Memorial Hospital in Tangub City.

“Tandaan natin, minsan lang tayo dadaan sa mundong ito. Kung ano pong kabutihan o tulong na puwede natin gawin sa ating kapwa ay gawin na natin ngayon dahil hindi na tayo babalik sa mundong ito,” Go concluded.
