The Bureau of Customs (BOC) successfully hosted the Grand Iftar 2026 celebrating the shared values of faith, unity, and compassion.
The gathering served not only as a meaningful occasion for fellowship but as a reminder of how the spiritual lessons of Ramadan directly translate to honest and empathetic public service.
During the event, Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno reminded attendees that unity and shared purpose are essential to the Bureau’s reforms, encouraging the Muslim community to remain active partners in building a more accountable and service‑oriented institution.
“We are no longer just starting—we are now in the middle of transforming our Bureau.”
“We are no longer just starting—we are now in the middle of transforming our Bureau,” Nepomuceno said, urging personnel to take part in this historic effort.
“With your help, we can build a modern Customs that Filipinos will appreciate.”
“I may only be here temporarily as a presidential appointee, but for many of you, this is your second home. With your help, we can build a modern Customs that Filipinos will appreciate,” he stressed.
The solemn observance continued during the breaking of the fast and the Maghrib Prayer led by Dr. Durakuglo, where attendees from the Philippine Coast Guard, Bureau of Immigration, and the Inter‑Agency Council Against Trafficking joined BOC officials and personnel in honoring the sacred traditions of Ramadan. Their presence, alongside senior BOC leaders, reflected a shared respect for the Muslim community and a collective recognition of the spiritual significance of the holy month.
“In the spirit of Ramadan, the BOC reaffirms its commitment to a more inclusive, people-centered public service—standing in solidarity with the Muslim community to promote ethical governance, understanding, and peace for all,” Nepomuceno stressed.
As part of the celebration, the Bureau also facilitated the distribution of Ramadan care packages to beneficiaries from Brgy. Port Area and BOC utility personnel.
Each package included three (3) kilograms of beef and five (5) kilograms of rice, generously provided by the Harmony and Wisdom Foundation and the Philippine Customs Muslim Association (PCMA), further reflecting the spirit of compassion and shared responsibility during the holy month.
Assisting Nepomuceno in the distribution were Director John Simon, Atty. Shahana Abdulwahid, President of the Foundation and Calil Dimangadap, The National President of PCMA.
