BOC POSTS HIGHEST Q1 COLLECTION, DELIVERS P239B

Customs Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno announced that the Bureau of Customs (BOC) recorded its highest first-quarter revenue collection in history, generating ₱239.054 billion in the first three months of 2026 to support government programs and national development.

The Bureau’s strong performance places the first quarter of 2026 among its top-performing periods, surpassed only by the July to September collections in 2025, which was also a record-breaking performance achieved under the current leadership. This reflects sustained revenue strength under intensified reforms and strengthened governance measures.

Based on preliminary figures, the BOC exceeded its January to March 2026 target of ₱236.060 billion by ₱2.994 billion, or 1.3% above target, while collections also grew by ₱7.677 billion, or 3.3% higher compared to the same period in 2025.

This milestone underscores the Bureau’s continued adherence to the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and the fiscal priorities set by Department of Finance Secretary Frederick Go to strengthen revenue generation while upholding transparency and accountability.

Nepomuceno emphasized that the Bureau’s performance proves that good governance and strong revenue collection go hand in hand.

“Our highest first-quarter collection of ₱239.054 billion, with a surplus of ₱2.994 billion shows that integrity, accountability, and modernization are not barriers to performance—they are the very reasons we are achieving it.”

“Our highest first-quarter collection of ₱239.054 billion, with a surplus of ₱2.994 billion shows that integrity, accountability, and modernization are not barriers to performance—they are the very reasons we are achieving it. Sa BOC, pinapatunayan natin na kapag maayos ang sistema at tapat ang serbisyo, tumataas ang koleksyon para sa bayan,” the Commissioner said.

The BOC attributed its strong performance to the collective efforts of its ports and subports nationwide, whose personnel continue to ensure the efficient and lawful collection of duties and taxes.

“Your commitment to efficient and honest collection ensures that every peso truly serves the Filipino people.”

“I extend my sincere gratitude to our men and women in the Bureau of Customs whose hard work and dedication made this possible. Maraming salamat sa inyong patuloy na paglilingkod—your commitment to efficient and honest collection ensures that every peso truly serves the Filipino people,” he added.

Key contributors to the BOC’s first-quarter gains include the successful public auctions of forfeited goods, particularly smuggled high-end vehicles that convert illegal assets into public revenue, as well as strengthened post-clearance audit operations that help ensure compliance with customs laws and the accurate payment of duties and taxes.

Central to these efforts is the BOC’s, Accountability, and Modernization (IAM) Program, which drives reforms across operations, enhances transparency, and promotes a culture of professionalism and service among its personnel.

With its strong first-quarter performance, the Bureau of Customs continues to move forward as a modern, responsive, and results-driven institution—demonstrating that principled governance can deliver meaningful and measurable results for the Filipino people.
