ARAGONES OPENS LAGUNA’S 1ST CHEMOTHERAPY CENTER

The Provincial Government of Laguna officially inaugurated its first-ever chemotherapy center at the Laguna Medical Center, marking a major milestone in accessible cancer care in the province.

Led by Governor Sol Aragones, the initiative aims to provide affordable and quality treatment to cancer patients, particularly those from underserved communities.

The program was made possible through the collaboration of the Provincial Health Office, the Laguna Health Team, and the We Hope Medical Group.

The opening ceremony featured a ribbon-cutting attended by hospital chiefs, Laguna Health Consultant Dr. Eric Tayag, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Odilon Inoncillo, and representatives from the We Hope Medical Group.

The newly established facility is expected to ease the burden of patients who previously had to travel outside the province for chemotherapy treatment.

“Malaking tulong ang mga programa ni Gob Sol sa amin lalo na sa akin na single parent.”

“Malaking tulong ang mga programa ni Gob Sol sa amin lalo na sa akin na single parent, hindi lang itong chemotherapy center kundi yung Akay ni Gob Botika din ay nakakakuha ako ng gamot ko doon,” said Maricel Van Opdenbosch, a breast cancer patient from Calauan, Laguna.

The chemotherapy center will also provide free services to qualified patients, reinforcing the provincial government’s commitment to inclusive healthcare.

In addition, patients will receive a free half cavan of rice, further supporting their daily needs as they undergo treatment and recovery.

Patients must first be registered with the Provincial Health Office (PHO) and will be scheduled for an appointment with an oncologist for proper assessment and the development of their treatment plan.

“Happy na tayo, success!”

“Happy na tayo, success! Andito na ang ating ipinangako na kauna-unahang chemotherapy center sa Laguna,” Aragones said.

The opening of Laguna’s first chemotherapy center stands as a significant step toward a more inclusive and responsive healthcare system in the province.

Beyond providing much-needed treatment, it brings hope and relief to countless patients and families facing the challenges of cancer.

With the continued commitment of the provincial government and its partners, this initiative not only fulfills a promise but also reinforces a future where quality healthcare is within reach for every Lagunense.
