The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) and the Philippine Energy Research and Policy Institute (PERPI) officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), formalizing their collaboration on evidence-based energy regulation and broader policy development in the energy sector.
The MOU outlines key areas of cooperation, including providing information support for technical and analytical research, implementing capacity-building and knowledge-exchange programs for personnel, participating in forums and public consultations on energy regulation, and contributing to the development of discussion papers and research publications, among others.
The ERC, led by Chairperson and CEO Atty. Francis Saturnino Juan, expressed utmost gratitude to PERPI for the opportunity to collaborate in advancing data-driven, research-backed energy regulation.
“By aligning research, policy, and regulation, we strengthen our collective ability.”
“By aligning research, policy, and regulation, we strengthen our collective ability to respond to emerging challenges, support the transition to sustainable energy systems, and ultimately deliver reliable and affordable electricity to our people,” Juan said.
The PERPI delegation, represented by University of the Philippines President Atty. Angelo “Jijil” Jimenez, likewise welcomed the partnership and underscored the importance of establishing local linkages in energy research and policy development.
“Energy problem calls for establishing a secure, safe, reliable, and affordable energy to fuel our drive towards becoming a fully developed country.”
“We hope to be able to use this partnership to contribute to Philippine national goal, which is really dependent on our ability to solve our energy problem. And that energy problem calls for establishing a secure, safe, reliable, and affordable energy to fuel our drive towards becoming a fully developed country,” Jimenez said.
Through this collaboration, the ERC underscores its continued commitment to strengthening local partnerships to advance regulatory transparency and efficiency, grounded in data and research.
