BONG GO LAUDS POVEDA DANCE TEAM FOR IASF WIN

Senator Bong Go filed the Proposed Senate Resolution No. 399 commending and congratulating Team Pilipinas Poveda Enciende for winning the gold medal in the Open Hip-hop Division of the 2026 International All-Star Federation (IASF) Dance Worlds and the silver medal in the Junior Hip-hop Division of the 2026 International Cheer Union (ICU) Junior World and World Cheerleading Championships.

In the resolution, Go recognized the official dance team of Saint Pedro Poveda College in Quezon City for representing both their school and the Philippines in prestigious international dance competitions, where elite teams from different parts of the world compete at the highest level.

The resolution noted that 17 high school members of Team Pilipinas Poveda Enciende qualified to represent the country in the IASF Dance Worlds and ICU Junior World and World Cheerleading Championships, two major international competitions that gather top dance and cheer teams from around the world.

Team Pilipinas Poveda Enciende captured first place in the Open Hip-hop Division of the 2026 IASF Dance Worlds held from April 24 to 27, 2026 in Florida, United States of America, besting 20 top-level dance teams.

The team also earned a silver medal in the Junior Hip-hop Division of the 2026 ICU Junior World and World Cheerleading Championships held from April 22 to 24, 2026, also in Florida.

The chair of the Senate Committee on Sports said the team’s achievement shows the depth of Filipino talent beyond traditional sports, emphasizing that dance, cheer, and other performance-based athletic disciplines also deserve recognition, support, and development.

He said the gold and silver medals won by Team Pilipinas Poveda Enciende reflect the growing strength of Filipino youth in international competitions and the importance of encouraging more young people to pursue sports, physical education, discipline, and teamwork.

The resolution also commended the team’s coaches, school community, and families for their guidance and support, noting their important role in helping the young athletes succeed on the world stage.

He said their victory should remind the public that youth development must include strong support for sports, arts, physical training, and values formation, especially programs that teach discipline, perseverance, teamwork, and love of country.

Maraming salamat sa karangalang ibinigay ninyo sa Pilipinas,” Go said.

He said the accomplishments of Team Pilipinas Poveda Enciende should encourage the government and private sector to continue helping young athletes gain access to training, facilities, coaching, exposure, and other forms of support needed to compete globally.
