Building on the momentum of its successful soft launch in Malabon, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) officially brought its Yes to Ayos Disiplina Campaign in the municipality of Pateros with new strategic partners to join Lola Daisy Plina in spreading the culture of discipline across Metro Manila.
MMDA Chairman Don Artes said the partnership with private sector and non-government institutions is “designed to amplify the message of discipline beyond the government-led campaign and into the daily lives of residents”.
Franz Gerard Imperial, undersecretary for Presidential Broadcast Staff-Radio Television Malacañang, described the campaign rollout as timely, in line with the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to foster a culture of discipline and accountability among Filipinos.
“Bahagi ng kaunlaran ay ang pagpapaunlad at pag-iisip ng mamamayan.”
“Yes to Ayos, mamamayang mahusay at disiplinado! Bahagi ng kaunlaran ay ang pagpapaunlad at pag-iisip ng mamamayan, dahil walang Bagong Pilipinas kung walang Bagong Pilipino,” said Imperial in the second leg of the campaign’s soft launch at the Pateros Elementary School.
MMDA Deputy Chairman Undersecretary Frisco San Juan Jr. introduced new strategic partners to amplify the campaign’s reach.
They are 101.1 YES! FM as well as environmental partners Mother Earth Foundation Mother Earth Foundation and the EcoWaste Coalition.
101.1 YES! FM Station Manager DJ Sexy Megan expressed excitement to be part of the campaign, committing to communicate its purpose to ensure the public fully understands it.
Environmental group MEF champions the “Turo and Tingi” project, a sustainable initiative that helps sari-sari stores move away from single-use sachets by setting up refillable product stations. The EcoWaste Coalition advocates for an eco-friendly, zero-waste and toxic-free country by eliminating single-use plastics and promoting sustainable reuse and refill systems.
Both set up their booths featuring their advocacies and supporting the campaign’s “Yes to 4R’s: Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.”
LOLA DAISY PLINA’S ECO-TINGINDAHAN
In a bid to promote the 4R’s, the MMDA Lola Daisy Plina’s Eco TINGIndahan, a refilling store advocating for sustainable waste management practices, was also unveiled.
Residents can refill their containers with products such as condiments and rice using points earned from exchanging recyclables. This initiative aims to reduce waste and promote reusables.
San Juan emphasized that the program’s purpose is not only to remind people of the rules but also to encourage every citizen to actively participate in maintaining order in our environment and community.
“Ang tunay na pagbabago ay nagsisimula hindi lamang sa malalaking proyekto, kundi sa simpleng disiplina na ating isinasabuhay araw-araw–tamang pagtatapon ng basura, pagsunod sa batas trapiko, paggalang sa kapwa, pangangalaga sa kapaligiran, at pagiging responsable sa ating mga pampublikong lugar,” said the Usec., who delivered Artes’ message.
The event also featured a demonstration of the Yes to Ayos codes through various scenarios in Barangay Sta. Ana with Lola Daisy as the face of the campaign.
Meanwhile, Pateros Municipal Mayor Gerald German expressed his full support for the campaign, urging his constituents to stand united in this endeavor.
“Kinakailangan na magsimula tayo sa kaayusan, kaya yes kami sa Yes to Ayos campaign.”
“Kami ay taos pusong nagpapasalamat sa makabuluhang proyektong Yes to Ayos. Buong puso ang aming suporta sa proyektong ito dahil naniniwala kami na ang bayan na walang kaayusan ay bayan na walang kaunlaran. Kinakailangan na magsimula tayo sa kaayusan, kaya yes kami sa Yes to Ayos campaign,” German said.
Barangay Sta. Ana Chairperson Betty Santos also expressed gratitude to the MMDA for leading the cleanup drive and clearing operations in their community.
“Nalinis po muli ang ating mga estero at kanal, nalagyan kami ng pedestrian crossing road markings, nagsagawa ng misting operations, tinabas ang mga puno na nakalaylay na ang mga sanga sa kalsada–ang mga ito ay malaking tulong para tiyakin ang kaligtasan ng lahat,” Santos said.
The ceremony concluded with a formal pledge of commitment led by MMDA General Manager Undersecretary Nicolas Torre III, national and local government officials, barangay representatives, along with private and non-governmental partners.
Their collective commitment is the administration’s call to embrace personal discipline, excellence, proper behavior, and a shared responsibility for national progress.
