MANILA COMPLETES LAPTOPS IN CLASSROOMS PROGRAM

Under the “One Laptop, One TV, One Classroom” program, Manila City Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno Domagoso distributed 551 Sony 55-inch Smart TVs and 982 HP laptops with bags to Kindergarten and Grade 1 teachers across all six congressional districts at the San Andres Sports Complex.

The activity marks the fulfillment of a pledge Domagoso made in his 2025 State of the City Address, delivered after he formally returned to office as mayor.

The mayor expressed gratitude to the city’s public school teachers, saying that their persistence and guidance shaped who he is today.

Domagoso described himself as a product of the public education system, and said the program is his way of giving back to the teachers who invested in their students.

He said the distribution is part of his administration’s Minimum Basic Needs (MBN) policy, which prioritizes housing, education, healthcare, and jobs as core investments for Manila residents.

Also distributed during the event were school supplies for all grade levels, including over 2.6 million notebooks, more than 1.3 million notepads, 66,250 school bags for Kinder to Grade 2 students, and PE uniforms for all grade levels from Kinder to Grade 12.

Domagoso credited the Manila Local School Board, led by Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Sheryll Gayola, for making the program possible.

He recalled his own experience as a product of Manila’s public school system, crediting his teachers for keeping him in school during a period when he nearly dropped out during high school.

He also announced the expansion of the city’s fresh milk feeding program from 21,000 daycare enrollees to approximately 60,000 public school students from Kinder to Grade 1, to be served every other day starting June.
