AUMENTADO BACKS UBAY SANITARY LANDFILL

The Provincial Government of Bohol, led by Governor Aris Aumentado, met with officials from the Municipality of Ubay to discuss the proposed establishment of a sanitary landfill aimed at strengthening solid waste management in the municipality.

Discussions focused on conducting public consultations, adopting a clustered waste management approach for neighboring municipalities, and securing the necessary Special Land Use Permit (SLUP) to facilitate the project’s implementation.

Aumentado expressed his support for the initiative, citing its potential to generate economic opportunities while promoting sustainable environmental management. 

“It is important to ensure that nearby residents are actively involved in public consultations to address their concerns and safeguard community welfare.”

The initiative supports the provincial government’s Strategic Change Roadmap in advancing sustainable waste management and building resilient communities across the Bohol Island UNESCO Global Geopark.
