The City Government of Makati, through the Makati Health Department, has launched the Makati City School-Based Influenza Vaccination Program, making Makati the first LGU in NCR to offer free flu vaccines to public school students.
A total of 31, 537 eligible students across all Makati public schools are set to receive the free flu vaccine.
The vaccination rollout began on August 3, 2026, and will continue until the scheduled completion of the program across public schools in the city.
“Ang kalusugan ng ating mga anak ang pinakamahalaga,” Makati Mayor Nancy Binay said.
“Simula August 3 hanggang 28, magsasagawa ang Lungsod ng Makati ng School-Based Influenza Vaccination Program sa lahat ng pampublikong paaralan, libre para sa ating mga estudyante.”

The initiative aims to bring healthcare closer to every child by protecting students against seasonal influenza, reducing the spread of illness in schools and communities, and ensuring that children stay healthy, safe, and ready to learn throughout the school year.
The lady mayor encouraged parents and guardians to support the program by giving their consent and having their children vaccinated.

“Mga magulang at guardians, magpapadala ang paaralan ng program information at informed consent form. Basahin, sagutan, at pirmahan ito, at ibalik sa class adviser bago ang naka-schedule na araw ng bakuna,” Binay explained.
“Kung may mga katanungan o alalahanin, huwag mag-atubiling lumapit sa school clinic at kausapin ang inyong school nurse,” she added.
Together, the city, schools, and families are working hand in hand to keep every young Makati resident healthy and protected.
