Senator Bong Go expressed hope that Alexandra “Alex” Eala could deliver a historic tennis gold medal for the Philippines at the Asian Games should she compete in the regional sporting event.
Go raised the possibility after commending Eala in the Senate for winning the 2026 Mubadala DC Open and becoming the first Filipino to capture a Women’s Tennis Association Tour singles title.
“At ngayong taon na ito, hopefully makukuha na natin ang first-ever gold sa Asian Games kung sasali po si Alex Eala,” the veteran legislator said in his co-sponsorship speech.
“Eala’s growing success on the international stage should encourage the country to strengthen its support for elite athletes and grassroots sports development.”

The senator emphasized that government and private-sector cooperation remains important in providing Filipino athletes with training, facilities, competition exposure, and other resources needed to succeed internationally.
