JUAN MARKS FIRST YEAR AS ERC CHIEF

Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) Chairperson and CEO Atty. Francis Saturnino Juan marked his first year of service as head of the Commission, highlighting the ERC’s accomplishments over the past 12 months and reaffirming his commitment to advancing a fair, transparent, and responsive regulatory environment for the energy sector.

In his message during the Commission’s flag-raising ceremony, Juan reflected on the challenges and milestones of his first year, noting the Commission’s efforts to strengthen policies and regulations, promote competition, address its backlog of pending cases, enhance supply security, and ensure that regulatory decisions remain anchored on fairness and the interests of the Filipino people.

He likewise emphasized the ERC’s continuing efforts to improve its processes and services for its stakeholders, including consumers, distribution utilities, generation companies, and government agencies. These initiatives include strengthening consumer protection mechanisms, enhancing transparency, and making the Commission more accessible and responsive to the public.

“These accomplishments were made possible through the collective efforts of the Commissioners, Executive Director, Directors, Chiefs, and all ERC employees.”

He expressed his appreciation for their dedication, professionalism, and continued support in carrying out the Commission’s mandate.

As he enters his second year as Chairperson, he reaffirmed his commitment to the priorities he laid out when he assumed office — continuously improving the regulatory environment, ensuring reliable, affordable, and sustainable electricity for all Filipinos, and upholding integrity and transparency in public service.

“Isang taon na po ang lumipas, ngunit alam kong marami pa tayong dapat gawin,” Juan said, emphasizing that the commitments he made upon assuming office remain ongoing responsibilities that he intends to pursue in the months and years ahead.

He called on the ERC workforce to continue working together in addressing the challenges facing the energy sector and sustaining the gains achieved by the Commission.

The Commission’s continued progress will depend on the collective support, trust, and cooperation of its people as it moves forward with its mandate. 

With the challenges ahead, Juan urged the ERC workforce to remain united in advancing the reforms and initiatives that will help ensure a more reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy sector for the Filipino people.

“Sama-sama nating harapin ang mga hamon na darating, at sama-sama rin nating ipagpatuloy ang mga tagumpay na ating pinasimulan,” he concluded.
