Senator Bong Go personally visited San Isidro, Davao Oriental to extend financial assistance and other forms of support to persons with disabilities (PWDs), reaffirming his commitment to promoting their welfare, improving access to essential services, and addressing the challenges faced by vulnerable sectors.
During the activity, Go extended assistance to 530 PWD beneficiaries, providing financial assistance, food packs, shirts, pens, vitamins, and basketballs.
Additional items, including shoes, a watch, a bicycle, and a cellphone, were also prepared for raffle activities as part of the senator’s continuing efforts to provide assistance and engage with local communities.
During his visit, the veteran legislator expressed his appreciation to the residents of San Isidro and assured them of his continued willingness to help individuals and families experiencing difficult circumstances, particularly those requiring additional assistance because of disability, illness, or financial hardship.
“It is important to ensure that persons with disabilities have access to government programs, healthcare services, and opportunities that allow them to participate fully in society.”
The seasoned lawmaker has consistently emphasized the importance of ensuring that persons with disabilities have access to government programs, healthcare services, and opportunities that allow them to participate fully in society.
The senator’s continuing advocacy for the sector is reflected in several legislative initiatives intended to strengthen the rights, welfare, and inclusion of persons with disabilities.
He filed Senate Bill No. 677, or the proposed Early Voting Days for Senior Citizens, Pregnant Women and PWDs Act of 2025, which seeks to establish an early voting system for qualified vulnerable voters, including persons with disabilities. The measure aims to make elections more accessible by providing additional opportunities for PWDs to exercise their right to vote through designated accessible voting facilities.
Go is also a co-author of SBN 1405, which proposes lifetime validity for identification cards issued to persons with permanent disabilities. The measure seeks to ease the administrative burden on qualified PWDs who would otherwise need to undergo repeated renewals despite having permanent conditions.
Through these initiatives, he has sought to address concerns involving healthcare accessibility, social protection, administrative requirements, and meaningful participation in community life, particularly among Filipinos who face additional difficulties in obtaining essential services.
The activity’s program identified local officials including San Isidro Mayor Maria Angelica Go-Dayanghirang, Vice Mayor Sherlyn Marcojos-Casama, and Board Member Don Montojo, together with members of the municipal council and other community representatives.
“It is important to bring government assistance directly to communities and ensure that available programs remain responsive to their particular needs.”
Go reiterated his commitment to supporting persons with disabilities and other vulnerable sectors, stressing the importance of bringing government assistance directly to communities and ensuring that available programs remain responsive to their particular needs.
His visit to San Isidro formed part of a series of activities in Davao Oriental aimed at delivering assistance, checking the condition of healthcare facilities, and addressing concerns raised by residents.
Go maintained that government service must remain accessible and responsive to the needs of ordinary Filipinos, especially individuals and families facing financial, medical, and other difficulties.
“Bilang inyong Mr. Malasakit, anumang pagsubok ang ating haharapin sa susunod na mga araw, patuloy akong magseserbisyo sa inyong lahat dahil bisyo ko na ang magserbisyo at naniniwala ako na ang serbisyo sa tao ay serbisyo sa Diyos,” he concluded.
