ALLIED CORP TO BUILD CHROMEBOOK HUB IN CAMSUR

Camarines Sur (CamSur) is set to become the home of the Philippines’ first Google Chromebook manufacturing facility, representing a major breakthrough in the Bicol region’s technology landscape.

Announced in early January 2026 by Governor Luis Raymund “Lray” Villafuerte, this 5,000-square-meter landmark project of the Allied Corporation Asia Pacific aims to transform the province into a high-tech hub while modernizing the country’s public education system.

Governor Villafuerte emphasized that this investment aims to revitalize Philippine manufacturing, strengthen human capital, and ensure that investments translate into tangible benefits for Filipino families.

“When I assumed office as Governor on June 30, 2025, I said clearly and boldly: CamSur will be the spark that will light up the nation. This announcement—at the very start of the year—is that spark,” Governor Lray stated on his social media post.

“We remain focused on our mission of making CamSur future-ready and investor-friendly, creating jobs, skills, and hope for our people, and building a legacy of inclusive growth that will be felt for generations,” the Governor added.

The Google Chromebook manufacturing facility will be situated within the CamSur Uptown Global City with the primary goal of supplying affordable, locally assembled devices to the Department of Education and local government units for nationwide distribution to public schools.

The facility is expected to employ approximately 110-full technicians per production shift. Beyond direct manufacturing roles, thousands of indirect jobs are anticipated in logistics, supply chain management, and after-sales services. This initiative will also provide opportunities for local talent to develop advanced skills in electronics manufacturing without needing to leave the province.

Governor Villafuerte emphasized that this investment aims to revitalize Philippine manufacturing, strengthen human capital, and ensure that investments translate into tangible benefits for Filipino families.

Aside from enforcing the CREATE-MORE Law and the Tatak Pinoy Act that make investing in the Philippines attractive to foreign investors, CamSur offers more fiscal and non-fiscal incentives, including tax incentives, streamlined permits, world-class infrastructure, and an investor-friendly environment, making it a competitive and strategic investment option.

This landmark investment proves that, through strategic incentives and visionary leadership, the province is uniquely positioned to lead the nation’s charge into the global digital economy.
