ARAGONES EQUIPS LAGUNA FOR DISASTER PREPAREDNESS

Laguna Governor Sol Aragones announced that completing all essential equipment in the province is now a top priority to ensure timely and accurate information during calamities.

“Ito ang plano natin ngayon, kumpletuhin ang mga gamit. Tulad ng CCTV at weather forecaster upang matiyak natin ang impormasyon sa oras ng kalamidad,” Aragones said, highlighting the critical role of technology in disaster response.

The intensified rehabilitation effort followed the lady governor’s inspection of the existing PDRRMO Command Center.

During a visit with PDRRMO Head Aldwin Cejo, the Governor found the facility in a severely deteriorated condition, with cracked walls, damaged flooring, and a decaying ceiling, conditions that raised serious concerns about the center’s readiness during emergencies.

Inside the operations area, only eight monitors were functional, while just one monitor in the Emergency Operations Center was operational, showing limited visibility.

There were no active closed-circuit television (CCTV) systems monitoring the situation across Laguna’s 24 municipalities and six cities, a major gap in real time surveillance that hindered rapid response and coordination.

Aside from installing new CCTV units and weather monitoring and forecasting systems, the entire PDRRMO Command Center will undergo full rehabilitation.

Aside from installing new CCTV units and weather monitoring and forecasting systems, the entire PDRRMO Command Center will undergo full rehabilitation in coordination with the Provincial Engineering Office to address structural issues caused by the facility’s age.

PDRRMO Head Aldwin Cejo welcomed the initiative and thanked the provincial leadership for its swift action.

“Tayo naman po ay nakakapagtrabaho ng maayos kahit po walang mga bagong teknolohiya, kaya lamang ito po ay mas magiging maalwan, magaan, at effective.”

“Pagbilis po sa mabilis na aksyon. Kami po ay nagpapasalamat dahil tayo naman po ay nakakapagtrabaho ng maayos kahit po walang mga bagong teknolohiya, kaya lamang ito po ay mas magiging maalwan, magaan, at effective,” Cejo said.

“Dahil tayo po ay mabilis na makakapagbigay ho kaagad ng solusyon at forecast,” he added emphasizing the importance of accurate and timely information from the ground level up to the provincial government.

With the modernization and rehabilitation of the PDRRMO Command Center nearing completion, the provincial government aims to establish a more responsive, technology driven, and structurally sound hub for disaster management.

The initiative reflects the commitment of the Laguna provincial leadership to prioritize public safety, strengthen preparedness, and ensure that accurate information and swift action remain at the core of disaster response efforts across the province.
