Boholanos can soon look forward to more jobs and opportunities as SM Supermalls pushes forward with SM City Tagbilaran.
Officials from SM Supermalls presented the site development plan for its soon-to-rise mall in Bohol during a courtesy visit to Governor Aris Aumentado.
SM’s newest property in Bohol will cover over six hectares. It will feature a three-story commercial complex, envisioned to become one of the province’s largest malls.
“This investment underscores SM Supermall’s confidence in Bohol’s growing economy and its role as a hub for trade, tourism, and development, while also providing jobs to Boholanos,” Aumentado said.
“The construction phase will employ an estimated 800 to 1,000 workers.”
According to SM officials, the construction phase will employ an estimated 800 to 1,000 workers. Meanwhile, mall operations are expected to provide around 130 jobs for Boholanos.
After the courtesy call to the governor, a public consultation was held with residents and officials of Barangay Cogon.
“Locals will be prioritized in the hiring of personnel, from construction to operations.”
SM Senior Corporate Compliance Manager Christian Caesar Perez assured the community that locals will be prioritized in the hiring of personnel, from construction to operations.
Barangay Captain Geneson Balbin thanked SM Supermalls for engaging the community and opening doors for locals to raise their questions and concerns directly to them.
Residents also expressed enthusiasm about learning to apply for jobs as the construction of the mall nears.
Perez explained that the public consultation marks the start of their compliance with all pertinent permits before actual construction, which they target to start within the first quarter of 2026. By November 2025, he said, initial works will be done in the project site, including soil testing and hydrology.
The three-story SM City Tagbilaran, with a gross floor area of 61,515 square meters, is expected to generate hundreds of jobs, creating a major boost for Bohol’s economy.
