BOC SEIZES P6.1M ILLEGAL DRUGS IN PARCELS

In line with the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to intensify the campaign against illegal drugs, the Bureau of Customs (BOC), together with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and partner law enforcement agencies, intercepted over ₱6.1 million worth of suspected illegal drugs concealed in abandoned inbound parcels in Pasay City.

The interdiction operation resulted in the seizure of suspected illicit drugs, particularly 795 tablets of MDMA (Ecstasy), approximately 1,096 grams powdered ecstasy, 8 grams cocaine, 14 grams ketamine, and 11 grams of undetermined substance discovered inside eight inbound parcels. The shipments were falsely declared as ordinary items in an apparent attempt to evade customs inspection.

The operation was conducted through the coordinated efforts of the BOC–Customs Anti-Illegal Drugs Task Force (CAIDTF), PDEA Regional Office NCR, PNP Aviation Security Group, Airport Police Department, PNP Drug Enforcement Group, National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), and the Bureau of Immigration (BI).

Customs Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno underscored the importance of strong inter-agency collaboration in protecting the country’s borders from the entry of illegal drugs.

“These successive interdiction operations reflect the Bureau of Customs’ intensified efforts to stop the entry of illegal drugs and other contraband into the country.”

He also commended the Bureau of Customs–NAIA, led by District Collector Yasmin Mapa, for its continued vigilance and operational effectiveness in safeguarding the country’s international gateways.

Mapa echoed Nepomuceno’s statement and reaffirmed the port’s commitment to sustain the intensified enforcement campaign.

“The BOC–NAIA remains fully committed to supporting the Bureau’s intensified anti-drug and anti-smuggling operations.”
