The province of Bohol marked the International Day of the Seafarer with a flag-raising ceremony at the Capitol Grounds, led by SeaFam International together with the Provincial Government.
This year’s global theme, “My Harassment-Free Ship”, placed a spotlight on the need to promote safe and respectful working environments onboard vessels.
The event served as a collective expression of support from local leaders, maritime institutions, and the community, reaffirming their commitment to the welfare of seafarers.
“The provincial government will continue to uphold the dignity and safety of seafarers.”
Governor Aris Aumentado expressed his support, stating that the provincial government will continue to uphold the dignity and safety of seafarers.
“Bohol will always stand with its maritime workers,” Aumentado stressed.
Bohol is home to many Filipino seafarers whose work not only supports their families but also contributes to the country’s economy and global maritime operations.
As the Philippines’ first and only UNESCO Global Geopark and a regenerative island province, Bohol takes pride in its strong ties to the maritime community.

Representatives from PMI Colleges–Bohol, Stella Maris of the Diocese of Tagbilaran, Southern Institute of Maritime Studies, and SeaFam International joined the province in this annual tribute.
More than just a ceremony, the event served as a reminder of the sacrifices made by seafarers—and of the shared duty to ensure their safety, dignity, and well-being in every voyage.
Every June 25, the world pauses to recognize the contributions of those who live and work at sea.
The International Day of the Seafarer celebrates the vital role of maritime workers in sustaining global trade, connecting nations, and keeping supply chains moving.
